As today’s featured faculty member, VanArts presents our lead instructor for Game Art & Design, Mr. Izmeth Siddeek.
Izmeth has over a decade of professional experience in the film & video game industry as a Lead Character Artist, Visual Development Artist, and Modeler. He has worked on Fifa 2007 at Electronic Arts Canada, Mass Effect 1 at Bioware, and most recently at Vancouver’s Capcom Games Studio on Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising: Case Zero and The Bigs at 2k Sports. He is proficient in several software packages and has presented his work at the Game Developers’ Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. Izmeth has also worked on the films Superman Returns and Scooby Doo 2.
This summer, Izmeth presented two Tech Talks at the SIGGRAPH 2014 Conference in our own city of Vancouver. His recent talks have been on the theme of Towards the Idea of Desktop Motion Capture, based on a new technology which he has been researching and developing. Izmeth has been exploring the capabilities of real-time motion capture without the use of markers, which helps to drive a CG character’s performance into the hands of an individual artist rather than a huge studio set-up. His talks at SIGGRAPH gained the attention of Taylor & Francis Press, who will be publishing his research into a book for release in September 2015.
Izmeth will be speaking this month at a career fair sponsored by Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) in Mexico, and we wish him all the best with his continued promotion of his work and upcoming publication! This video, with the help of one of our Game Art students, demonstrates the effectiveness of this new technology.
As an instructor at VanArts, Izmeth encourages students in our Game Art & Design program to produce professional results in all aspects of their own game production. If you would like to audit a class by Izmeth, contact our Admissions Department today to arrange for the best day & time!
