The Digital Photography department at VanArts was incredibly privileged to have Getty photographer Richard Lam come and speak to the students last week. Richard is the local photojournalist who captured the frame that went viral worldwide, of the couple kissing in the street during the Stanley Cup Game 7 riots. Richard showed a slideshow of his incredible Stanley Cup coverage leading up to the Game 7 loss for the Canucks and the students got to see every frame leading up to this now iconic image.
His stories of life as a photojournalist, particularly about his work during other historical riots, the 2010 Olympics and the recent NHL playoff run were really exciting and insightful.
